2016 Tom Leggat Fellowship Awardees Announced
The Trustees of the Theodore Edson Parker Foundation established the fellowship award at the Greater Lowell Community Foundation in honor of a former Trustee, Tom Leggat. The fellowship award recognizes Leggat’s interest in the advancement of youth as well as his dedication to the betterment of Lowell. The fund grants awards annually to promising young Lowellians. Onotse Omoyeni and Chummeng Soun were selected to receive this year’s award.
Chummeng will use his award to travel to the Royal University of Fine Arts in Cambodia to study classical Cambodian dance with one of the last surviving master instructors. Onotse will use her award to create a podcast series highlighting national figures who have been disenfranchised in the political and social arena as a result of their race and/or ethnicity.
